Situated in the 'Scotland District' of the island at 750 feet above sea level this garden is 53.6 acres reserved only for green botanical ventures, never to be developed for housing or industry, with 7 acres of wild garden.
There are several paths in the garden and it does take some time to explore them all. Each one is unique, has unique plants and beautiful vantage points. The 2 main paths are flat. If you want to spend several hours in the forest there are also a couple of paths that have steps, and some that consist of stepping stones. If you walk the main path it will still take you 20 minutes to get around and back to the pavilion where you started.
There is an informal cafe for a drink, a light lunch or tea on site.
Handicap accessible pavilion and bathroom. Pathways are smooth but there are areas where help may be required for wheelchairs to ascend and descend gradients. There are no steps on the 2 main paths.
